PPF vs Ceramic Coating — Which Should You Choose?

PPF film or ceramic coating — how they differ, what they cost, and which is the better choice for most car owners in Vilnius.

What PPF film is

PPF (paint protection film) is a clear, thicker polymer film applied directly onto the paint. It provides physical protection against stone chips, gravel and fine scratches — most often applied to the front bumper, bonnet and mirrors, where the risk of damage is highest.

Market prices for PPF range from roughly €700 to €4000 or more, depending on the coverage (front end only vs full body) and the quality of the film.

What ceramic (nano) coating is

Ceramic coating is a liquid chemical layer that bonds with the paint surface, creating a hard, hydrophobic barrier against UV rays, oxidation, bird droppings and road grime. It also gives a deep, glass-like gloss that ordinary wax can't match.

AutoZone Detailing's ceramic coating price starts from €130, with a warranty of up to 5 years depending on the package chosen. See the full service here: Ceramic coating.

The core difference

In short:

  • PPF: physical protection from chips and scratches, from roughly €700
  • Ceramic coating: chemical protection from UV, oxidation and dirt, plus gloss, from €130
  • PPF absorbs impacts, coating protects against environmental wear and aging

What most drivers in Vilnius should choose

If your car is a daily driver and budget matters, ceramic coating is the better first step — it's significantly cheaper and pays off quickly in gloss and protection from everyday wear. PPF is worth it if the car is expensive, new, or you frequently drive on highways where chip risk is high — usually as extra protection for the front end rather than a replacement for a coating.

AutoZone Detailing currently offers ceramic coating; we don't install PPF film, but we can help you assess whether ceramic coating is the right first step for your car, or whether you should also look for a PPF specialist.
